I don't know whether it is coincidence or not, but not long after I wrote to webmaster@nettwerk.com pointing out that the guestbook link on the BGTs website didn't let you see the guestbook a message appeared there saying they had stopped it being publicly visible because of spam. They don't really seem to know what they are doing because (i) those in the know can still read the guestbook at the same location as before:
http://guestbook.begoodtanyas.com/guest/guestbook.php?loc=guestbook
(this has a recent entry so it is the live guestbook rather than a frozen version) (ii) there's very little spam in it -- only one that I've spotted though I suppose they might have deleted some.
I've written again now, pointing out the existence of a regular anti-spam measure requiring someone to identify some text before being admitted, and hopefully they'll take that suggestion up (if anyone knows what that utility is perhaps they might tell webmaster@nettwerk.com about it -- I've searched for it but not come up with anything).

For what it's worth (not very much!), here is the webmaster's reply:
| Quote: | Apparently they have put it that way [a write-only guestbook] for a reason. Apparently because of SPAM.
So apparently it's more of a comment board for the band than a guestbook that others can read. [which stops the public seeing the spam, but doesn't stop spam arriving. How weird! Will the spammers take the trouble to discover that the spam can't be seen and so stop sending it? I think not.]
If you have a comment post it there and apparently they are reading them... |

Dateline : June 21st 2008
The guestbook has been out of action for three weeks.
I`m awaiting a reply from the webmaster about this
desperate situation.
All those frustrated guests could be leaving for other bands guestbooks !
Update 13th July :
The guestbook has been retired indefinitely.
The webmaster at Nettwerk said :

Fortunately, one file that hasn't been renamed is the file where the entries are stored, as you'll see if you click on the link I gave in an earlier entry (though this now gives the whole file in one go, not a page at a time).

Hi Brian,
I made up the comment from Nettwerk, for comic effect.
They didn`t reply,in fact.
We can assume it was a policy decision from da Boss (Sam).
Wise move,i say. |

nobody knows what happened to the guestbook
a potion will be discovered, a code cracked, and a cure concocted.

All the guestbook did was stir up rumours of the Tanyas splitting (supposedly originating from Kathryn Williams?)
Guestbookers should just come here instead! _________________ ...pretty little disappointments all in a row...

Nettwerk hired a team of monkeys from the local zoo and had them punching out code randomly on a set of typewriters. Suddenly, after more than a year's typing had gone by, the screen lit up and the Guestbook came back on line!

Maybe this bodes well for some more action on the BGT's musical front... _________________ ...pretty little disappointments all in a row...
